Issues & Information-
Below are some common issues and information to assist you in using RescuePRO correctly.
Fragmented Files
Some files can become fragmented on the media by deleting and reshooting pictures in the camera, or by using the media like a disk drive and editing files on the media device. Fragmented pictures may appear to have half of the image missing, or colored stripes in the picture. Fragmented videos and other files may not even open at all. These may not be recovered intact by RescuePRO, but can usually be recovered by the in house recovery service. Please contact Datarecovery@LC-Tech.com for more information on this service.
Overwritten Data
Data that has been overwritten is not recoverable by any means. In cases where a large number of pictures or videos are taken, and then the media has been formatted, and more pictures or videos taken, only the files that were not overwritten will be recoverable. If they are fragmented, then only fragments may be recovered. It is recommended when using your media in a camera, you do not delete pictures or videos in the camera, but rather wait until you have uploaded the pictures or videos to your computer. After verifying that the data has been properly uploaded, it is recommended to format the media in the camera or device it is being used in.
Formatted Media
Media that has been formatted can still be recovered as long as data has not been written back to the formatted media. In the case of heavy fragmentation, it may be necessary to send the card for in house recovery to recover the most data. Please contact Datarecovery@LC-Tech.com for more information on this service. NOTE that some devices perform a destructive format or erase, and in those cases, the data is not recoverable.
Undetected Media
In order for the software to recover data, the media must show on the computer as a removable disk device. Some cameras do not show as a removable disk device and a card reader must be used. If the media is damaged and does not show up, the software cannot recover the media. It still may be possible for a recovery using the in house recovery service. Passwords & Security
The U3 device has an option for protecting your data with a password. If the password is forgotten, or the number of attempts to enter tha correct password has been exceeded, the data is erased and non-recoverable.
Encryption
Data that is encrypted on a media device will be encrypted on the recovery. RescuePRO will not un-encrypt any data.
Hard Drives
RescuePRO is not designed for recovering from hard drives. While you may see an option for disk drives, and RescuePRO will scan disk drives, the option is available to accommodate devices that mount as drives. Because of the large amount of files on a hard disk during the recovery is not recommended that RescuePRO is run on hard disks.
